In observance of Earth Day, Kretz Lumber hosted Mrs. Pflieger’s 4th grade class from Newman Catholic Elementary School-St. Michael’s located in Wausau, Wisconsin.

The students were greeted by the forestry staff of Kretz Lumber and then introduced to Lumberjack Louie played by Sterling Strathe of LEAF. LEAF is the Wisconsin K-12 Forestry Education Program based out of the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Lumberjack Louie took the children on a pictorial tour of an 1865 logging camp then engaged the students in forestry learning activities and a games.

The event was concluded with the students planting White Spruce trees in the Ray Kretz Industrial Forest.
