How to identify an ideal lumber supplier

When it comes time to purchase lumber for your project, finding a reputable lumber supplier is an essential part of the process. Here’s what to focus on:

1. Work with a supplier that sells high-quality lumber. We’ve said it before, and we’ll repeat it: The choice to use high-quality versus low-quality lumber in your plant will make or break you. How do you determine if someone sells high-quality lumber? First, lumber that is well machined has consistent thickness throughout the board. Second, the drying quality should be consistent, free from surface checks, along with minimal warp or twists.

2. Make sure your supplier can provide lumber that is machined properly. A good supplier ships lumber that is well-machined, with minimal wane and with-in the hardwood grading rules. If there are not grades available for your lumber requirements we can provide high-quality custom lumber to meet your needs.  For example, maple can have brown heartwood in it. Perhaps you want brown heartwood. Or maybe you don’t. A preferred lumber supplier will be able to tell you exactly what you are getting and the quality you can expect

3. A good supplier can get you the quantity of lumber you want. Whether you need 1 truckload or multiple truckloads, ideal lumber suppliers have options for their customers. Find a supplier that provides quantity options to ensure you can order precisely what you need for your rough mill.
