Tim Nicklaus, forester and log buyer here at Kretz Lumber Company, says this is one of his favorite fall comfort foods. A midwestern classic, this is Tim’s version.
Ingredients
1-1.5 lbs of ground beef
Small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
1 14.5 oz can green beans, drained (I prefer green beans but if you don’t, pick a different canned vegetable.)
1 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups shredded cheese (I prefer cheddar)
Frozen tater tots (enough to cover top of casserole)
Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat over to 375 degrees
- Grease your baking dish with cooking spray. I usually use a 9-inch rectangle baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef.
- Add onions and garlic, stirring frequently.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper to preferred taste
- Transfer ground beef mixture to baking dish. Spread evenly.
- Top with cream of mushroom soup, followed by can of veggies, followed by layer of shredded cheese.
- Top with tater tots.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes. You want golden brown tots and melted cheese.
- Enjoy!
